The Mahindra XUV 7XO has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection, based on crash test evaluations. The SUV earned 30.76 out of 32 in adult occupant safety and 44.97 out of 49 in child occupant safety, applying to all its variants. Testing specifically examined the 7-seater AX7 diesel-automatic in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) setups, ensuring broad coverage of the model’s configurations.
In adult occupant safety, the XUV 7XO achieved 14.76 out of 16 in frontal offset crashes and a perfect 16 out of 16 in side impact tests. Key areas such as the driver’s chest and tibia, as well as the co-driver’s tibia, demonstrated strong protection levels. Side pole impacts, however, received an “OK” rating, indicating room for further improvement in that specific test scenario.
Child safety scores were equally strong, with the SUV securing 23.97 out of 24 in dynamic child protection and a full 12 out of 12 for child-seat installation. Tests utilized dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old children, both placed in rear-facing seats. The 3-year-old dummy scored 8 out of 8 in frontal crashes, while the 18-month-old achieved 7.97 out of 8, with both scoring 4 out of 4 in side impacts.

Standard safety equipment across the XUV 7XO includes six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent assist, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. Higher trims introduce additional features such as a 360-degree camera, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS).
Mahindra’s earlier model, the XUV700, had earned 5 stars for adult protection in Global NCAP’s 2021 assessments but only 4 stars for child protection. The XUV 7XO’s improved child safety rating reflects advancements in restraint systems and structural design, addressing previous shortcomings. These updates may strengthen buyer trust in India’s expanding SUV market, where safety standards are becoming a key consideration.
